Alice in Wonderland

The best gift you can give is the gift of adventure.
Client: Beaconsfield School of Dance

This was a dance show designed to showcase the talent of the Schools’ students (all ages).

I was asked if I could provide some assistance in bringing the stage to ‘life’, using little or no money. After viewing the venue, listening to the ambitions of the Director, we came to the conclusion to design animated backdrops to be projected behind the dancers.

This is a small part of the production pieces I created for the show.

I worked closely with the Director and Choreographer to build and finesse the backdrops to selected music. Once each scene had been finalised they all needed to be stitched together to form one seamless package.

The project afforded me the freedom – not felt to me since leaving design school. I was allowed to imagine and create the worlds in which Alice, White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat and the Queen of Hearts lived.

The heroes of the show were the very talented dancers and teachers, I was very proud to be able to provide support, seeing the show come to ‘life’ on stage was wondrous.

Software: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Indesign, Final Cut Pro, Motion

In most of the projects that you have looked they would not have been possible if it were not for photoshop – in the examples that follow I have stripped it back so the photoshopped images are the hero.
