The Beatles 1
The cover artwork for the album was inspired by the content of the album (worldwide number one hits). We had lots of fun trawling through the historical back catalogue and album covers to find suitable examples of the Beatles worldwide appeal.
Once the idea had been approved the artwork had to be adapted for billboards, store dressings, point of sale and TV adverts.
This was the age of the CD and supersize music stores competing for our attention on Oxford Street, so it was very pleasing to see Virgin Music and HMV dressing their stores with all the store dressings we designed. The album achieved platinum sales soon after launch.
